Ponnani is a municipality and taluk in the Malappuram district of Kerala, India. Located on the banks of the Bharathapuzha River, Ponnani is a significant cultural and historical center. The town is renowned for its beautiful beaches and backwater. The town boasts several ancient mosques, including the Ponnani Juma Masjid, which is one of the oldest mosques in India. The town's strategic location on the Arabian Sea made it a significant trading hub in the past.
